Rotten Food Project

Travelling to another country allowed me to explore my curiosity in international food. Europe is well known to have less-preservatives and natural ingredients, which I especially appreciated while studying abroad in London, England. America has been stereotyped as a preservative and fatty driven dietary society. There are exceptions, but in general this is accurate from growing up in Massachusetts. There are even media driven advertisements to attempt to make the citizens of United States aware, such as “Super Size me.” Why is America so high strung about preservatives? It is a visual issue. Our society wants everything to look clean, but we don’t realize that when the products looks improper and decomposes timely then it is healthier for humans. Photographing rotten groceries from London progressed for me to aimed on expressing the natural state of how food looks like over time and how something so gruesome can be beautiful.
